Leveraging e-Commerce for Exports


Giraffe Consulting recently gave capacity building training to BSOs from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine participating in the EU MED SMEs Programme, on good practices in  international e-commerce.


 These sessions examined:

  • the challenges MSMEs in the MED region face in developing international e-commerce
  • issues that need to be addressed by policymakers
  • the support BSOs require to advise and coach MSMEs
  • training and coaching required by MSMEs to gain the knowledge and skills they need in international e-commerce
  • a practical session on how MSMEs can use online marketplaces (such as Amazon, Noon and Tradeling) to develop online export sales.

      Policy & Strategy Examples

      Giraffe Consulting's extensive experience in policy and strategy includes:

  • developing a Sector Export Plan to grow exports from the technology sector in Scotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government 
  • study into export support at a regional and local level in Ukraine, including recommendations to support SMEs and build capacity of Ukrainian BSOs
  • formulating the ARISE+ programme in Vietnam, making recommendations on export support needed to increase Vietnamese exports and priorities to grow exports and achieve inclusive economic growth, while improving gender equality and reducing poverty
  • study into the feasibility of manufacturing / assembly of bicycles in Rwanda for GIZ, including the potential for inward investment and employment
  • Value chain analysis projects, assessing the potential for exports from the garment sector in Georgia and Moldova and weaknesses / gaps to be addressed
  • developing an international branding strategy for food from Vietnam
  • developing an SME Competitiveness and Export Development Strategy for the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA), advising AIDA on capacity building and export support services for SMEs
  • preparing an Export Strategy and Marketing Plan for the IT outsourcing sector in Colombia, focusing on export to the EU
  • preparing an Export Strategy and Marketing Plan for the garments sector (swimwear and shapewear) in Colombia, focusing on export to the EU
